The death toll from the Papua New Guinea ferry tragedy may be three times earlier estimates. The Fiji interim regime has raised more eyebrows with its latest decree preventing anyone from suing its leaders or the media for defamation. France's President lays out promises for biggest spending in French Polynesia. The Australian government has been told it can play a leadership role in bringing attention to human right abuses in the Indonesian region of Papua. The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, has outlined a series of measures for French Polynesia in a televised video address. All public elementary schools in the Northern Marianas are now ending the day earlier to cut power costs. A Papua New Guinea NGO is calling for traditional artworks from New Ireland Province to be repatriated. The Fiji Football Association remains optimistic that it will still host the Oceania Nations Cup tournament in June, despite next month's Olympic qualifiers being shifted to New Zealand.
