Presenter Geoff Bryan presents the 17:00 hrs news bulletin, which is then followed by a sport bulletin presented by John McNeil, and a traffic report presented by Kelly Ashdown and then a weather report. Advertisements follow and then another brief summary of the hours top news headlines.

Host for the programme is Andrew Patterson (Radio Live Business Editor). Today’s guests include:

Monitoring of high-risk offenders:
The government has announced the new initiatives to monitor high-risk offenders - GPS equipped ankle bracelets so their movements can be monitored by authorities. The monitored bracelets will alert corrections staff if paroled offenders stroll into exclusion zones like parks and schools. Andrew speaks with the Minister of Corrections, Anne Tolley.

At a quarter past the hour, Geoff Bryan presents the latest news headlines, which is followed by radio advertisements and (at times) a traffic report.

Capsized boat load of asylum seekers arrive in Australia:
A second incident involving the capsized boat of approximately 123 asylum seekers almost 200 kilometres north of Christmas Islands. One person has been confirmed dead, and up to around 30 people are still unaccounted for. Women and children were on board the boat according to anecdotal evidence. This second incident has caused the Australian government to scramble around getting this policy sorted. The opposition is favouring processing of these asylum seekers to occur in Nauru, whereas the Australian Labour party is seeking to have the detainees processed in Malaysia which is renown for mistreatment of asylum seekers. Andrew speaks with Jody Spears.

Scott Guy Murder Trial:
Paul Gallagher (Radio Live Reporter) was in court to follow the proceedings in the trial of Ewen Macdonald for the murder of his brother-in-law, Scott Guy in the driveway of his home in Feilding.

At the bottom of the hour (half past the hour) Geoff Bryan presents the news headlines, followed by a sport bulletin with Jeff Mctainsh or John McNeil, then more radio advertising. Geoff Bryan then follows with a weather report for Auckland.

Daily Business Wrap:
Andrew speaks with Bernard Hickey (Editor, Interest.co.nz website) regarding the day on the markets and business news.

Advertisements, news headlines and a traffic report are presented.

KiwiRail balance sheet restructured:
The government has announced another step to ensuring the company has a more commercial footing with the restructuring of it's balance sheet under its challenging 'turn-around plan'. Finance Minister, Bill English and State Owned Enterprises Minister, Tony Ryall said today it will involve the write-down of some $6.7 million dollars resulting in $1.8 billion being added to the governments operating deficit in this financial year. Andrew talks wtih Jim Quinn (KiwiRail CEO).

Radio advertising follows.

The two day Real Estate Institute auctioning event came to an end last night - with the 4 finalist battling it out for the top spot. The winner is just 22 years of age - Daniel Coulson has been named as the countries top auctioneer and joins Andrew to speak about his latest achievement.

Andrew signs off for the evening, then radio advertising follows.
