4ZB (Radio station : Dunedin, N.Z.), Broadcaster

Side 1. Speeches by Prime Minister, Michael Joseph Savage, and acting Minister of Broadcasting, Frederick Jones at the opening of Dunedin radio station 4ZB. Prime Minister Savage talks about the government's decision to nationalise broadcasting in order to expand the coverage.
He mentions criticism of advertising and the decision to allow commercial advertising; he says the government would not allow useless or harmful products to be advertised over the air. "It is only right that business people of the Dominion should be given the the advantage of this modern means of commercial publicity. It is also right that the state should have full control of radio advertising and should obtain the revenue for the benefit of the people." The speakers talk about the increase in both licenses and listeners to the new services.

Side 2. Description of an unidentified military display which includes actuality of a marching band, military drill commands and aircraft.
