In this week’s programme:

1. Gaston Flosse, French Polynesia's new president, wants a referendum on self-determination as soon as possible.

2. The first of what will be a series of consultations aimed at developing a protective legal framework for people displaced by natural disasters is underway in the Cook Islands.

3. Defections to the government have left Papua New Guinea's opposition significantly depleted with just seven of the parliament's 111 MPs remaining.

4. Political parties in Fiji have until June the 7th to declare their assets and liabilities to the government under the regimes political parties decree.

5. The Norfolk Island government is looking to slash its spending and cut jobs as the economy remains in the doldrums and Australian funds remain tight.

6. The Prime Minister of Samoa has defended his embattled finance minister, Faumuina Tiatia Liuga, who has been accused of corruption and incompetence from within his own ruling party.
