Part one:
Opening theme music "Little Sir Echo"

Archival excerpt of the original opening broadcast from 28 April 1937:
Bill Elliot introduces C.G. Scrimgeour, controller of the National Commercial Broadcasting Service, who introduces Hon F. Jones, acting Minister for Broadcasting to declare the station open. Both speak.
Opening fanfare - "2ZB is on the air!"
Bill Elliot asks the first 2ZB announcers to introduce themselves to listeners and they briefly outline their programmes:
Mr C. T. "Aggie" Agassiz, Aunt Daisy, Ken Waterhouse, Kingi Tahiwi, Frank Bennett, (Bill Elliot) Arthur Collyns, Mark Tozer.

Group discussion and interview with first station manager K. W. Kilpatrick; Maurice King and Stuart Duff; they talk about the station's beginnings and the station's early years.

Peter Hutt recalls becoming an announcer at the end of the Depression.
John Gordon talks about his different roles. Joe King remembers being an early sports broadcaster starting in 1931.
