General Sir Gerald Templer, Chief Designate of the Imperial General Staff, renowned for his fight against terrorism in Malaya, talks about his reasons for his succession of flying visits around the world including New Zealand. He was, at the time the recording was made, Colonel of the Royal Irish Fusiliers who were affiliated with the Marlborough - West Coast Regiments. He was to meet members of that regiment following the recording.

Richard Campion was producing George Bernard Shaw's play, Saint Joan. "Joan is one of the unique parts that an actress may undertake that has great and lasting qualities."

Donald Campbell's wife, formerly Dorothy McKegg of Palmerston North watched her husband smash the American held world water speed record by driving his jet speed boat "Blue Bird" across Lake Ulswater at 325.6 kmph/202.3 mph on July 23rd 1955. He broke the previous record by almost 24 mph. Donald Campbell gives thanks Leo Villa and his boys who service the boat. This programme carries a recording, made at Ulswater the previous week of the actual attempt, including sounds from the boat's jet engines. This was received from the BBC's short wave service.
