Focus on Women - One Hundred Years After The Vote. Part of a series produced by Radio New Zealand International.

Moera Tuilaepa introduces an interview with with Louisa Crawley, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs. Crawley talks to Myra Oh about her experience of coming to New Zealand from Samoa, for her education.

She was the first Pacific child to attend her boarding school, but she says she was well-looked after by the school community. This helped her adjust to life in New Zealand.

She discusses her career, working with Pacific communities in New Zealand, preserving her Samoan language, and the establishment of the Pacific Island women's organisation, P.A.C.I.F.I.C.A. and her involvement in raising awareness and education about HIV-AIDS by forming the pacific Island AIDS Trust.
