1. Pacific Island countries have used an international climate change conference in Poland to speak out about a lack of action from developed nations to reduce carbon emissions.

2, A Russian documentary photographer [i.e. Vlad Sokhin] and consultant to the United Nations says he has witnessed horrific cases of violence against women and children in Papua New Guinea.

3, UN Women Papua New Guinea says it plans to introduce women-only buses in Port Moresby to better protect women from violence and sexual harassment, but not everyone is backing the idea.

4. A Fiji economist Professor Wadan Narsey expects the Fiji economy to grow by more than four percent for the next five years if a transparent, accountable government is elected next year and investor confidence is restored.

5. The autonomous Bougainville government in Papua New Guinea is about to gazette new laws establishing controls on foreign investment.

6. Plans for mining in Solomon Islands Isabel province are on hold following a forum that aired strong opposition to the activity.

7. Samoa is making a push to have more of its products on New Zealand shelves, as it seeks to redress an imbalance in imports and exports to and from the country.
