The programme features a different high-profile guest every week talking about their life, upbringing, passions, world-view, faith and spirituality. This recording is of a network feed from Auckland. There are holes in the broadcast to allow for stations to insert local content. Real Life with John Cowan is funded by New Zealand On Air. In today's programme:

Kate Rodger was born in Suva, Fiji and lived there until she was four, before moving home to New Zealand. Kate went to Baradene College before going to study radio at the Christchurch Polytechnic Broadcasting School.

Her first job was with Radio i in Auckland as a producer and announcer. From there she moved to Radio Taranaki as the breakfast news presenter, before hosting her own show on Classic Hits. She then spent four years with IRN News, as a reporter and breakfast news presenter.

She returned from the UK and USA in 2003 and joined 3News as a reporter, presenter and producer, before moving into her current dream job – as an Entertainment Reporter and Film3 reviewer for 3 News.
