1. International human rights watchdogs say they're looking forward to action by Fiji after its presentation to the United Nations in Geneva last week.

2. Fiji's nomination of Kiribati President, Anote Tong, as a candidate to receive the Nobel Peace Prize has been welcomed by the committee lobbying on Mr Tong's behalf.

3. The director general of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Dr Colin Tukuitonga, says he fully supports a planned review of Pacific regional bodies.

4. The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands is to fly in officers from participating countries to bolster security operations for the elections on November the 19th.

5. The unseating of long-time American Samoan congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin is being put down to his deteriorating health and a strong campaign by one of his opponents.

6. Village leaders of Sale'aula (Sah-leh-owlah) village in Samoa have turned down a proposal by a Chinese company for a tourism development project in fear of losing their land.

7. An artist [i.e. Steve Ma Ching] who has tattooed some of New Zealand's most well-known sportspeople, including Sonny Bill Williams, has taken away the top award at one of New Zealand's longest running Pacific art awards.

8. A social football league on Guam is turning heads with its popularity and target group.
