Pae Ruha from the Māori Women's Welfare League, speaks with Geoff Robinson about Māori protocol for women speaking on the marae. [telephone interview]

She explains the different kawa (or protocol) on urban and rural marae and mentions the incident involving Margaret Shields, Minister of Women's Affairs, at the Labour Party Conference when she was prevented from speaking.

She also talks about the Māori Women's Welfare League, why it was set up and that the league was trying to get a universal kawa accepted on every marae, due to the increasing participation of Māori women in Māori issues.
