Granddaughter of Rangimārie Hetet and daughter of Diggeress Rangituatahi Te Kanawa, both expert weavers, Rangi Te Kanawa studied for years to become a textile conservator in order to preserve her people's taonga. She talks to Dale Husband about her work and spreading the message of conservation.
She and a paper conservator colleague have travelled to marae to deliver workshops on how best to care for taonga. She speaks about the challenges of preserving different Māori textiles.
