NZ is establishing formal diplomatic links with Micronesia. Terence
O'Brien is the NZ representative for the new political entities of the
Marshall Islands and Micronesia and he discusses how they have gone from
territories to becoming self governing with defence and financial
assistance of the US government. He also talks about why NZ has opened
diplomatic and political channels and the implications of doing so. The
issue of nuclear waste dumping is also discussed.
