A STRANGE LAND

A programme looking at the lifestyles of immigrants to New Zealand, their lives in their country of birth, and their impressions of New Zealand.

Programme Number: 6
Subject: Nitya Nand Sundar
Roots: Fiji/India

Producer: Andrew McRae

1987 coup events in Fiji made Nitya want to find a new home in which to raise his children. He says the New Zealand Indian community was mixed in its reception of him but found New Zealanders generally accepting of him. He has no regrets about moving to New Zealand and is now unsure if he would want to go back to Fiji. He discusses his Hindu faith and its role in his life.
