FIJI CRISIS: To Fiji now where the Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, is holding a media conference right now about last night's military manoeuvres and the crisis talks in Wellington with his dissident army chief. Meanwhile the streets are calm at the moment, but there are reports of people hoarding food, and families of expatriate employees removed from the capital for safety. The tourism industry also been hit hard - bookings are fifty percent below what's expected at this time and many resorts an hotels have already lost millions of dollars. STADIUM AUCKLAND: Eden Park admits it's taking what it calls "an unfortunate risk" by proceeding with a resource consent hearing for a redevelopment that falls short of the requirements for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. But it hopes the criteria will be met if plans for a full upgrade of the park are eventually given the green light. The resource consent hearing for the initial 320 million dollar redevelopment got underway in Auckland today - Sarah Bristow was there. PKGE
BRITAIN POISONING: British Airways is scrabbling to make contact with more than thirty thousand passengers who may have come into contact with radioactive traces found on board two of its planes. KEY NUCLEAR: The National Party's new leader John Key has pledged to keep New Zealand nuclear free. Mr Key told a foreign affairs and defence seminar today the nuclear free legislation should stay, and that the ANZUS defence alliance with Australia and the U.S is no longer the way forward. ThIs country was essentially frozen out of the defence treaty because of its nuclear free stance, but Mr Key says for much of its history the National Party has seen ANZUS as the lynchpin of its defence policy. He also says his party's position on nuclear ships has been in limbo and he wants that to end. Mr Key joins us now. LIVE
QUEENSTOWN FLOOD: Queenstown is on flood watch for the second time in less than a week. Lake Wakatipu reached its first flood trigger point early this morning and is expected to start ponding in low lying areas overnight tonight. Princes Charles, William and Harry were all targetted. AUSTRALIA UNIONS: It's normally bursting with sports fans...but today the Melbourne Cricket Ground was the centerpiece of a big day of action against Australia's industrial relations laws. Union officials label the new laws an attack on unionism, fair pay and workplace safety. Country-wide demos were mounted by Australian Council of Trade Unions President, Sharan Burrow. CUT

SEPARATION LIFT: A seriously ill Auckland husband and wife in their seventies, separated in their own home by a broken lift, are facing another night apart. Barbara Broome, who has multiple sclerosis and is wheelchair-bound, relies on the lift to move between floors. But it broke 10 days ago, leaving her trapped upstairs and her husband Arthur, who is dying of cancer, in his room downstairs. Our reporter Jean Edwards spoke to the couple and filed this. PKGE
