The country's youngest convicted killer is to stay in prison - after The Parole Board rejected an application for parole. Auckland teenager Bailey Junior Kurariki was sentenced to 7 years jail for the manslaughter of pizza deliveryman Michael Choy in 2001.
He was 12 at the time of the killing. He has so far served five years and 4 months of his sentence. Our reporter Caitlin Cherry has been looking at the Parole Boards decision and joins me now. LIVE

Three streets in Hamilton have been declared no-go zones by New Zealand Post due to rising gang tensions. Shots were fired on Tennyson road in Fairfield at the weekend, and yesterday the armed offenders squad swooped on three homes arresting several people and recovering a number of firearms. New Zealand Post spokesperson Fiona Mayo says they will not be delivering mail to Tennyson Road, Emerson Place and Dryden road until at least Tuesday. PREREC

The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating an incident were a group of Seikh priests carrying traditional daggers were allowed onto an Air New Zealand flight. Worried passengers on the flight from Auckland to Napier on Sunday raised the alarm when they saw the weapons poking out from the men's robes. The pilot confiscated the knives - Natalie Mankelow has more. PKG
Auckland has seized the ball with both hands, winning the right to stage this year's Netball World Championships. Fiji was stripped of the hosting rights following December's military coup - today, Waitakere City's Trusts Stadium was named as the new venue, beating off a bid from Christchurch. As you heard in sport...the New Zealand cricket opener Nathan Astle has walked away from the game, just six weeks before the start of the World Cup. Astle made his retirement announcement at a press conference in Perth, where the Black Caps are due to play Australia in a tri-series clash tomorrow.The 35-year old Astle says his enjoyment and motivation had been missing from his game for the past eight months. The study says by swapping the less healthy items in the grocery trolley for more nutritious equivalents - the average New Zealand family of four can make a difference to its health.
