1ZB announcer Dudley Wrathall introduces an excerpt from an interview he recorded with New Zealand boxer Tom Heeney at 1ZB in July 1947, while he was on a visit back to New Zealand. He talks about his life in America and his job as sports instructor in World War II with the United States Marines, "the Seabees".
He served in the Pacific in New Caledonia with Gene Tunney, his former opponent in the 1928 world title fight.
