Personal account of the Armistice announcement in 1918 to troops in northern France by Jim Forsyth of Christchurch.
He was in a field on the outskirts of Mons on 11 Nov 1918, when their Colonel assembled the officers and told them that hostilities were ceasing at 1100.
He says pandemonium then broke out among the men: hugging dancing, clapping each other on the back.
