Te Ahi Kaa: Exploring issues and events from a Māori perspective. This programme is recorded each week as it is broadcast on Sundays 6pm - 7pm on Radio New Zealand National, presented by Maraea Rakuraku and Justine Murray. The recording begins with the 6pm news bulletin. Items are:

Ken Mair comments after the Geographic Board said the letter -h- should be reinstated in W-h-anganui; Maraea Rakuraku talks to Sue Eddington of Waihao in South Canterbury about the forced removal of her people from the hills to the flat land of Willowbridge;
Maraea is at Opihi in South Canterbury looking at the Māori rock art caves;
Justine talks to Southland singer-songwriter Ariana Tikao in the green room of the Michael Fowler centre;
Suria Parak is a Fijian shop owner and has built up a close rapport with the Māori Community of Ngaruawahia. He takes Justine on a tour during Market day on a Saturday morning.
In the archives segment, the late Matiu Rata explains some of the fishing acronyms used in the 1990s.
