Controversial evidence that was withheld from the jury in the retrial of David Bain has been revealed after two courts lifted suppression orders. One of the pieces of suppressed evidence was part of a 111 call made by David Bain, in which - according to the Crown - he said "I shot the prick". Mr Bain's team disputes that those are the words used. Ian Telfer was at the Supreme Court and joins me now. LIVE

Nineteen Auckland City Hospital staff and five patients are in isolation after a nurse and her child tested positive for swine flu last night. The woman had just returned from holiday in the UK and worked one shift at the Hospital's Renal Medicine and Transplant Ward on Monday. That same day her child went to the ABC Childcare Centre in Meadowbank which is now closed while 29 children and 7 staff are being checked. The Auckland District Health Board's chief medical advisor, David Sage, is with us now.

The Reserve Bank Governor has ruled out forcing commercial banks to lower their short term interest rates saying he's not going to engage in Muldoonist tactics. Alan Bollard left the Official Cash Rate at 2.5 percent today saying signs that the world economy is starting to recover were behind his decision not to cut for the first time in 12 months. Dr Bollard says banks are still charging too much for short tem lending but he's not going to use his powers to force change. Instead he's suggesting Parliament could interrogate the banks further. The Prime Minister says he has washed his hands of former minister Richard Worth, but it does not appear he will move to have him expelled from National's caucus. John Key has now read a letter from a Labour Party activist, Naleem Choudary, who claims Dr Worth made sexually explicit phone calls and sent her 40 text messages - while at the same time offering her two jobs. Mr Key was quizzed by reporters about the letter and Dr Worth's future as National MP in Auckland this afternoon. Our political reporter, Julian Robins joins us now from Parliament... LIVE
A High Court jury has found a Christchurch man guilty of raping and murdering local schoolgirl Marie Davis. The 15-year-old's body was found in the Waimakariri River in April last year. 39 year old Dean Cameron has been automatically sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Environment Minister wants local authorities to be penalised for not processing resource consents on time. A two-yearly report on administration of the Resource Management Act out today shows some councils are frequently breaching the law - and that 30 percent of consents are taking too long to be issued. Nick Smith says that's unacceptable and he wants people to get a one percent discount on the fee they pay for every day a consent is late. He joins us now. LIVE
The Prime Minister, John Key, says he wants to see Auckland's Queens Wharf used as "party central" for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The Government has it on loan from the Ports of Auckland for the period of the tournament, and is negotiating to purchase the area for future development. A jury's been revisiting the images of a little girl the moment she was abandoned at a Melbourne railway station by her father, the man accused of strangling her mother with a necktie. Nai Yin Xue is on trial for murdering An An Liu in Auckland in 2007. The jury's watched CCTV footage from several different locations but the crown has been told not to push the heart-wrenching footage too far. Rowan Quinn's been at the High Court in Auckland. PKG
Nearly two hundred passengers who were on a Jetstar flight from Japan to Australia are stranded in Guam after a cockpit fire forced the pilots to make an emergency landing. The plane was an Airbus A330-200, the same kind of jet which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean last week, killing all 228 people onboard. Dean Mahoney was one of those onboard last night's flight bound for the Gold Coast. CLIP Jetstar's Chief Executive, Bruce Buchanan, says the pilots received a computer message just under four hours into the flight warning that the heating element on the co-pilot's window heater had malfunctioned. A seventy-two-year-old great grandmother is threatening to sue police in the United States after an officer used an electronic stun gun on her. Kathryn Winkfein (pron: wink-fine) had been pulled over for speeding in the state of Texas.
