te Ua, Henare, 1933-2007, Producer
Davis, Tom, 1917-2007, Speaker/Kaikōrero

Henare Te Ua introduces the second part of his interview with former Cook Islands Prime Minister, Sir Thomas Davis (Pa Tuterangi Ariki), at Ngatangiia on Rarotonga.

Sir Thomas Davis is also a historian and expert on ancient navigation and ocean-going waka, and has written two books recently. One is an autobiography titled "Island Boy", and the other is about ocean voyaging and navigation with the waka "Takitimu".

He talks about the ancestor Tangiia and his descendants, and how he believes the ancient voyages across the Pacific took place. He dismisses the belief that large tree trunks were necessary to build ocean-going canoes, saying they were built of planks.
