He speaks about the alienation of his people from the land, the Turangawaewae concept, equality with kin and other citizens living in Auckland, the marae as the hearth for education, mauri in the land and the world of senses: spiritual,sense, and symbols.

Māori Marsden was a scholar, a theologian, a war veteran, 12 years chaplin for the Navy, and a man who crusaded for social justice for his people.
