The 1977 NZ Poly Festival concludes at Gisborne's Rugby Park with the presentation Ceremonies with Chairman of the National Committee, Archdeacon Kingi Ihaka as Master of Ceremonies.

He opens by leading the singing of " Ka pine ahau" followed by an announcement regarding a Cook Islands' necklet.

The leaders of the winning Pacific Islands groups are then called on to the stage, Gisborne Samoan, Auckland Niue, Wellington Tokelau and Auckland Cook Islands.

The winning Māori groups are then called upon:

WHAKAEKE: 3rd Taniwharau, 2nd Sth Taranaki. 1st. Te Kotahitanga O Waitaha.

COSTUME : 1st equal Waihirere and Ngāti Rangiwewehi, 3rd Sth Taranaki

POI : 3rd Waihirere, 2nd Te Kotahitanga O Waitaha, 1st Ngāti Rangiwewehi.

ACTION SONG : 3rd Taniwharau, 2nd Ngāti Rangiwewehi, 1st Waihirere.

TRADiTIONAL : 3rd equal Waikawa and Ak Angilcan, 2nd Mataura, 1st Te Kotahitanga O Waitaha.

HAKA : 3rd Sth Taranaki, 2nd Waihirere, 1st Te Kotahitanga

CHORAL : 3rd equal Matarura and Mawai Hakona, 1st Sth Taranaki.

AGGREGATE : 3rd South Taranaki, 2nd Waihirere, 1st Te Kotahitanga O Waitaha
