1981 NZ Polynesian Festival : Compere Archdeacon Kingi Ihaka.

ENTERTAINMENT before the results are given out. Archdeacon Ihaka thanks the Avondale racecourse committee for allowing the festival to take place on the course, also the Minister of Māori Affairs, plus all committees and performing groups.

At this point the Festival goes live nationally by radio, with Archdeacon Kingi Ihaka greeting the Minister of Māori Affairs, the Ambassador of the United States and all who are present.

Speaking also is the Minister of Māori Affairs Mr. Ben Couch. The complement was given by the Adjudicators led by Ngoi Pewhairangi. - Te Minita Māori e.

Archdeacon Ihaka acknowledges Ratu Daniella from the Cook Islands who hosted two of the South Island groups at the Waiatarau Community Centre.
