Two great Māori men who contributed to Maoridom in terms of shaping the dynasty of the Māori people were the late Sir Apirana Ngata and Sir Peter Buck.

Sir Apirana Ngata speaks at a farewell function for Sir Peter Buck on his return to Hawaii; Sir Apirana sings his own waiata.

Sir Peter Buck replied and gave a brief account of his short catch up time in New Zealand.

New influences have crept into society since the influx of urbanisation and John Rangihau educationist believes that Māori University intellectuals do not have credibility with the Māori race, he goes on to explain his reasons for the statement he made.
