Magazine programme for Pacific peoples.

In Fiji once again the Methodis Church members march in protest against the
Goverments decisions to lift the ban on trading and organised sports on
Sunays, and in the capital of Suva the head of the Methodist church Rev
Malasa Sorou lead a march to Goverment House and handed a petition to
President Roger Kamisara Mara.

- kaikōrero: Samantha Magic, News Director Radio FM.96 in Suva reported
that it was a peaceful march with large crowds at both areas.

The United States has announced that it will close the Office of Territorial and
International Affairs by October and there is much concern in American Samoa
and the Marchille Islands which is linked to the United States

RNZI Walter Zweifel talks to Giff Johnson on the Marchille Islands about how the
people of te Marchilles received the announcement.

The demand for Pacific Island Social workers is on the increase and the director
of the Pacific Island Education Resource Centre Mr. Palesauunga says the
response for PI wanting to make Social Work as a career is encouraging with a
rise in numbers enrolling in courses. There is a need for more PI Social Workers
within their own communities.

During the week the Hillary Commision organised a function at Aucklands Ellerslie
Racecourse to celebrate Women in Sports. It was also an opportunity to launch the
"Brighton Charter" signed between nations in England.

In NZ women have exceled in sports with four of the last six supreme Halberg
awards going to women.
