Birch received a luke warm reaction from many communities.

Two Chinese people were picked up in Fiji for travelling on forged New Zealand
passports. They traveled from Toyko to Nandi with Air Pacific, then boarded an
Air New Zealand to Honolulu where United States noticed the forged passports
and refused them entry. Disscussions took place between both Airlines as to who
will be responsible for flying them out of the country.
