Fijian Teachers Cultural exchange.

Twenty-seven students and four adults from Nasinu Teacher Training College, Suva in Fiji arrive in New Zealand as guests of Auckland's Primary Teacher's College.

Here in New Zealand they visit factories, farms and schools first hand. The highlight of their tour being a stay on two Bay of Plenty marae, Bethlehem in Tauranga and Tarewa iin Rotorua, where they where welcomed, entertained and were entertaining, as they learned. On these marae they were received as relatives from the mythical homeland, Hawaiki.

But where is Hawaiki? A short explanation of how prevalent Hawaiki features in Māori oratory, oral histories, including genesis and migration stories.

One of the planners instrumental in bringing the students to New Zealand was second year student Barbara Allen who speaks with Haare Williams.
