- The Samoan Matai System - Part 1/ & part 2 mpt / 3091

From time to time leaders of respected Polynesian groups wiil discuss in depth
their traditional values and concepts.

The Samoans are one such group, and disscussing the traditional values and
concepts are Mr. Fred Atinga, Training and Advisory Officer with the Labour Dept.
Mrs Erelini Etuati; Community advisor in Grey Lynn, employed by the Auckland
City Council ; and Mr John Papali'i, Community officer with the Māori and Island Affairs Department.

Mr. Fred Atinga expalins the meaning of fa' a Samoa......................... as does Mrs. Erelini and John Papali'i.
The group then explain to Selwyn the Matai system and its application not only
in Samoa, but how it can be applied to Samoans living in New Zealand, as well
as the part that the church plays in the life of their community.
