- Māori Womens Welfare League -

The annual conference of the Māori Women's Welfare League was this
year held at Whakatane. The League was formed thirty years and its present
President Mrs Violet Pou speaks with Hēnare te Ua.

She gives an overview from her prespective as to how the league is progressing.

Mrs. Pou talks about some of the high points that has been achieved, and
some of the aims that was started and still being continued, she also talks
about an international forum that she attended in Copenhagen and Fiji, and
recruting more membership.

The league was asked by the New Zealand Māori Council to write a paper on
for the legislative review committee and to attend their hui at Turangawaewae
Marae.Other issues Mrs Pou spoke to Hēnare te Ua about was, health research
and fellowship with other roopu that they would otherwise may not have had,
had it not been for the League.
