NUCLEAR TESTING:

South Pacific Nations have agreed on Diplomatic measures to protest against
planned French Nuclear testing in the region including raising the issue at the
United Nations. The measures which included a call for a South Pacific free
zone was decided by a Regional action committee set up the fifteen nation
forum . Member Alfred Sasako said members also agreed regional opposition
to the test should ba a focus of activity on International Forums.

ASTHMA:

Asthma is a health problem among the Pacific Island people and according to health
statistics the preverlance among the PI people is more than other ethnic groups in
New Zealand.

Sam Thompson about asthma among the Pacific Island Community.

PACIFIC ISLAND POPULATION:

The first ever informationon each of New Zealands Pacific Island Population
was launched by the Minister of Pacific Island Affairs Don McKinnon. The six
book series presents a wide range of information which focuses on Samoan,
Tongan, Cook Islands, Niue, Fiji and Tokelauen communities.
