PRODUCE from the COOK ISLANDS:
A major importer of South Pacific Produce said that Cook Island growers cannot
compete on prices with their South Pacific neighbours. the Cook Island economy
is in financial strife and officials from the Asian Bank have been asked to help.
Auckland rural reporter David Steemson speaks with the Marketing Manager for
Pacific Island Produce Gordon Hobb about what produce New Zealand imports
from the Cook Islands.

TOKELAUAN BIBLE TRANSLANTION:
A workshop on the translation of the Bible into the Tokelauan laguage was held in
Porirua at the Tokelau congragational Christian Parish. Local community leaders
and members of the Bible society based in Australia, Indonesia and the Society in
New Zealand attended the workshops. Rev Tui Sapuonga said that support by
the Tokelau community in New Zealand and back in the Islands has been
encouraging.

PI BUSSINESS:

Pacific people wanting to set up thier own bussiness in Wellington will get a
helping hand from those already in bussiness. The Pacific Island Bussiness Assn
network has been established to help Pacific people to compete in the world of
bussiness.

SPORTS: Pacific people have achieved tremendous success in the field of
sport both in New Zealand and the Islands. Given the opportunity and encourag-
ment their is no limit to the rage of sport that they would take part in. To support
this progression the Minister of Pacific Island Affairs and the Manawatu Polytechnic
Palmerston North have jointly developed the Pacific coaching and sport diploma.

Ma'ua about how the course will help Pacific people.

KICK-BOXING: Samoan World kick boxing champion Ray Sifo has his eye set on
Japan. He says Japan is where the money is. The World champions career is well
on the way to bigger and better things is already contemplating another career
option.

will enspire Pacific youth, however his next goal is to go into becoming an actor. He
has had a few very minor experiences.
