- INDIAN AFFAIRS: Canada's Minister of Indian Affairs and Norhtern
Development Ron Irwin has ended his eight day visit to New Zealand. the
Minister was here to look at land claims, the future of Native languages and
alterative justice systems. Also in the party was Roseanne Morris, special
assistance to the Minister and from the Mohawk Community in Goanage? on
the south shore of the St.Lawrence river / Montreal.

- SOCIAL WORKERS: It has been revealed that there is a shortage of social
workers in some South Auckland areas. The Managers from the Auckland Young
Peoples Service said they were finding it difficult to attract quality Social Workers
to the area. They are eight Social workers short in the South Ak area.
Area Manager Greg Putland said the Goverment had acknowledged the
seriousness of the under resourcing by allocating South Auckland Five Hundred
thousand dollars of more than a two hundred million boost SYPS had announced
last year.

- PICTURES of SAMOA: Pictures of Samoa by colonial era photographers are
on display of Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is a travelling show already seen in
Colonge, Germany, Osford, England and Datona Beach Florida....It spans the years
1875 to 1925 and shows Samoa and Samoans as Europeans saw them. Many of
the photographers were New Zealanders,....John Davis, Thomas Andrews, the
Burton Brothers, Jizia Martin, and Alfred John Tetersill. There imagies travelled
the world often as post cards and built up a picture of Samoa which touched on real
life but mostly reflected the agendas of the people behind the camera.
