Magazine Programme about Pacific People.
1996 BUDGET: A budget with no surprises was delivered by the Minster of
Finanace Bill Birch, however the Opposition said that there was nothing to
capture support for the Goverment. It focused mainly on Education, Health
and the Enviroment. Pacific Island spokesperson told Elma Ma'ua that the
budget fell short of addressing the needs of the Pacific People.

PACIFIC PARENTS: Pacific parents have been encouraged to become
involved with the education of their children at an early age through parents
as first teachers programme. The programme was contracted out to"plunket"
in association with Pacific Island groups including the Pacific Island education
Resoure Centre PIS.

CHILD ABUSE: A dramatic television advertisment showing physical abuse on
a small girl spearheads a new stage in the campaign against "child abuse".
The NZ and Young Peoples Service has moved into the second phase of its
breaking the cycle campaign using radio messages, pamplets and video
documentaries dramas to help educate parents about alternatives to hitting.
