Continuation : A farewell to Sir Peter and Lady Margaret Buck was held in the Māori Community Centre Freemans Bay, Auckland on March 31/ 1949.

Sir Peter Buck a well known historian and anthropologist has been home in New Zealand with his wife and guests from Hawaii and the South Pacific. It is hoped that on his return to Hawaii he will write a review on the position of the the Māori people today, compared with twenty-two years ago, when he left for the South Pacific.

Among the many people to bestow accolades upon Sir Peter were Tapiata Paikea from Tai Tokerau, Pei Te Hurinui Jones representing King Koroki and Ngāti Tuwharetoa, and Sir Apirana Ngata, who, after his speech provides his own waiata.

Entertainment is provided by rangatahi from Ngāti Porou.
