The ceremony of the Taitokerau charter presentation to the Royal New Zealand
Navy was held at Waitangi 5th February 1990.

The speakers included Sir Graham Latimer, Wiremu Puriri, Petty Officer Steve Paul,
Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Sommerford Teagle, the Royal NZ Navy Band,
Kamehameha School Hawaii, the Sunset Ceremony, schools from throughtout the
Northland region who combined together to form a choir.
