FESTIVAL OF SOUTH PACIFIC ARTS, NOUMEA, NEW CALEDONIA 2000.

In October 2000, Hēnare te Ua and Libby Hakaraia were invited by Te Waka Toi, the Māori arm of Creative NZ to accompany the NZ Delegation to the above Festival.

They sent back to NZ through the courtesy of the Australian Broadcasting Commission's radio links, sufficient interview material, music and descriptive narrative and linking scripts to be compiled in Wellington by engineer Kelly Buckland for twelve 50' WHENUA! programmes which were broadcast by National Radio within a short time of recording. They also brought back with them to NZ much recorded material for further WHENUA! programme compilations.

The interviews on this DAT were recorded 23.10.00 and include interviews with ta moko tohunga Derek Lardelli (Ngāti Konohi, Ngāti Porou) and with artist and Head of Toi Houkura, Tairawhiti (Gisborne) Polytechnic, Sandy Adsett (Ngāti Kahungunu).
