SPFA : SONG AND DANCE OF THE SOUTH SEAS.

Recorded during the 2nd South Pacific Festival of Arts held in Rotorua in March of 1976.........excerpts from various performing groups.

- Western Samoa performing the...Mauluulu
- French Polynesia/ Tahiti .........Hoea ra (Canoe song).
- Tuvalu (means eight standing together) adopted in October 1975 by the
people of Ellis Island after their separation from the Gilbert and Ellis group.
- Gilbert Islands : Roia is the traditional Gilbertese dance, depicting the "Frigate Bird".
- Solomon Islands : A fishing dance
- Cook Islands : performing... Taku manu e (the runaway kite).ends.....

starts with.......Te Arawa e.

- Easter Island : Easter Island lies between Polynesia and South America
and is a dependancy of Chile. Their languages is Spanish and Rapanui.
- Hawaii : Hula Paeiiuma and the Hula Iliili.
- Tonga : perform their Lakalaka dance composed by the late Queen Salote.
- Tokelau : dance and song.
- Niue : perfom a dance called a "Mahina mati".
- Guam : Iriata whanau (Father and two daughters sing a song)
