Jingle: The Hamilton County Bluegrass Band

A Labour Party television commercial, made for the November 1969 general election.

Against a black background, moving inserts and split screens show images of life and landscapes in Aotearoa. Later screens show footage of Norman Kirk walking up Parliament steps and at work in his office. At the end, graphics repeat the phrases, “Make Things Happen” and “Vote Labour” against an orange and pink screen.

Voiceover: “It’s your turn now to make things happen, for your future, the future of all New Zealand. This November, give your vote to Labour.”

A jingle (by The Hamilton County Bluegrass Band) plays throughout: “We’ve a country that is old enough to have a past to turn to, and yet young enough to have a future we ourselves can make...”
