The 1990 Commission Promos: Television commercials featured sweeping aerial footage of the New Zealand landscape. They deliberately moved away from traditional pioneer-praise by focusing on "commemoration" rather than just "celebration". The goal was to increase awareness of the Treaty of Waitangi and foster an understanding of differing cultural backgrounds.

Footage of a Māori and a Pākehā boy playing together on a beach. The accompanying message promotes unity in Aotearoa New Zealand, drawing on the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
