On the island of Aitutaki, part of the Cook Islands, a group of young girls and boys are taught the art of dancing. A few of the boys are instructed on drum beats by their male tutor. Young women and girls pick frangipani and tiari Maori (White star of the Pacific) and sit in a group making costumes and headwear by threading and sewing the flowers and leaves together.
