Amateur footage, shot on 8mm film, of the inter-island ferry Wahine sinking in Wellington Harbour after running aground on April 10, 1968. Shows the scene around Seatoun with police cars and fire engines and rescuers.
A motorboat and large ship are shown near the sinking Wahine. Footage was taken from the both Seatoun wharf and Eastbourne.
Includes a sequence of a boat bringing people ashore and somebody being carried down the wharf. Also shows a lifeboat arriving on the beach and a person being carried by stretcher up the beach.
Close up shots of the Wahine almost completely submerged showing life boats on top. Last sequence is of boat carrying salvage equipment - cranes etc.
