KOMMIKAL’S CHRONICLES is a wildlife series with a unique twist.

He paku wahanga tēnei hōtaka a KOMMIKAL’S CHRONICLES e whai haere a te tamatane ki ngā tōpito o Te Waipounamu hei āta tirohia ki te whenua, te tāngata me ngā uri katoatia arā ngai manu, ngārara, rākau, mātaitai hoki.

It is presented by young, urban hip-hop MC Kommikal (aka Brett Tamati-Elliffe) in his own freewheeling, free-associating style.

In a fresh approach to getting young people interested in the natural environment, Kommikal journeys into the wild – seemingly a long way from his usual city street and radio studio habitat.

Kommikal travels in his trusty Holden Statesman car around Te Waipounamu (South Island) nature spots, discovering rare and endangered birds, reptiles and plants, checking out Department of Conservation special projects, visiting unusual places like ancient Māori pā sites and the Pounamu Trails of Central Otago.

Along the way, he finds interesting people to explain what he’s seeing, drops in incidental facts and then sums it all up in a rhyme or a song as he cruises on to the next place of interest.

Talented, charming and genuinely interested in nature and the environment, Kommikal shares his journey in an easy-going, bilingual, modern style that will have young people clamouring to go for a walk and the bush and adults warming to this subtly educational and entertaining series. http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/maoritelevision/programmes/rangatahi/kommikals_chronicles.htm
