Waka Huia

Mai i tōna whakaputanga i te tau 1987 kua eke te whakaaturanga o WAKA HUIA ki te 500 o ngā hōtaka kotahi haora – e whakaatu ana i ngā kaumātua kua ngaro i te tirohanga kanohi. Na tērā kua whakatakotohia ngā hītori mo te ao o ngā iwi, me ngā hapū puta noa.

Since its first transmission in 1987, WAKA HUIA has - in about 500 hour long episodes - captured for all time, the faces and voices of many kaumātua who are no longer with us. In the process we have created a vital and important audio-visual archive of Iwi and Hapū life and history.
