HUTTON’S BACON. JIMMY NAIL

A television commercial for Hutton’s middle bacon.

One of a series of commercials for Hutton’s meat products featuring Jimmy Nail, the English Geordie actor (‘Auf Wiedersehen, Pet’, ‘Spender’) and hit singer/songwriter (principally Ain't No Doubt, 1992). View from fridge interior of Jimmy Nail opening door and peering in. Close-of a packet of Hutton’s MIDDLE Bacon Rashers being grasped. A sleeping man is seen on the couch. Nail to camera: ‘You know where this load’s goin’, don’t yer?’. The sleeping figure stirs as Nail first bangs pots and pans and then sizzles bacon. Close-up of bacon cooking in frying pan ... Nail to camera as he lifts his bacon butty: ‘First come, first served.’ But the shriek of a kettle interrupts the bite he is poised to take. Nail gets up to pour a cup of tea and when he turns back, the butty is being eaten by his no longer-sleeping companion. Well-spoken male voiceover (with Hutton’s logo onscreen): When it comes to bacon, everyone love’s Hutton’s.” Nail to camera: ‘Aye. Worse luck!’
