WESTERN SAMOA - AID TO INDEPENDENCE: Independent since 1962, New Zealand’s aid to Western Samoa still continues as development there is slow. New Zealand agricultural instructor Len Jackson shows students how to improve banana crops, while teachers Rosalind Hands of Invercargill and Barbara Church of Dunedin work through the volunteer work scheme. They are just a few of the New Zealanders working together with Samoans, to make Samoan Independence a reality.

100 YEARS OF CHEMISTRY: At Gracefield in the Hutt Valley, the DSIR Chemistry Laboratory celebrates its centennial. With a staff of 180, this film surveys some of the work carried out there.
