The Māori men and women from the group Waka Huia practice their performance on the island of Rarotonga, in preparation for the 6th Festival of Pacific Arts, held in 1992. Bub Wehi, their tutor, speaks of similarities between the Pacific Islanders and the Māori of Aotearoa. There is much enjoyment and celebration during the evening opening ceremony. Western Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Australian Aboriginals, Torres Strait Islanders, Australia, Māori Aotearoa /NZ are some of the groups attending the festival. The canoe Aurere is in constant contact with the group in the islands, during its voyage from Aotearoa to Rarotonga.
