Brief history of the mutiny on the Bounty and the subsequent settlement of Pitcairn Island and later relocation to Norfolk Island. Here ancestors of Pitcairn Islanders who were relocated to Norfolk Island are reunited with there relatives 126 years after the separation. They gather at Auckland Airport before flying onto Pitcairn for a six day reunion.
Shows and discusses the difficulties of living on the rocky outcrop of an island where supplies are essentially begged from passing freighters and whose very existence is potentially compromised by the lack of strong young people to man the long boats. The strong influence of the Pitcairn’s self-styled church and the reliance on the sea are highlighted.
