Parliaments Health Select Committee today heard from communities struggling with synthetic cannabis. They came to provide recommendations on the Misuse of Drugs Amendment Bill which will seek to crack down on synthetic drugs which disproportionally affect Māori. The legislation would give police the power to refer suers of synthetic cannabis to health services instead of arresting them. One person has died as the result of an early morning house fire in Ruatāhuna. Residents of Uwhiārae were awoken by the screams of the partner of Te Ngaro Rūrehe.

ActionStation have released a report “For the Well-being of New Zealanders” highlighting the lack of funding for supporting the victims of sexual violence.
