“The Lambeth Walk was a popular dance of the period with a characteristic hand gesture and a cry of “Oi!” .... Lye edited together a number of different jazz versions of the music (including Django Reinhardt on guitar and Stephane Grapelli on violin), and combined them with a variety of hand-painted and scratched images. Lye was particularly pleased with some of the guitar solos (accompanied by a vibrating horizontal line) and double-bass solos (accompanied by a foot-stomping vertical line).” - Len Lye Foundation; www.lenlyefoundation.com/films/swinging-the-lambeth-walk/; retrieved 16/09/2016.
